I have had a wonderful 2 days as well as a wonderful weekend.Friday night I went up to my girlfriends' and stayed the weekend quilting some of my UFO's on her longarm....well, trying to....after wreaking havoc at her office for the past 2 weeks, 'Murphy' (as in "Murphy's Law") came home with her and tried wreaking havoc in her sewing room. The thread kept breaking, the serger wouldn't serge, the iron wouldn't iron...well, you get the picture, but after we chased 'Murphy' out of the room, things pretty well settled down. I did manage to get 2 queen sized quilts quilted and she got some jammies made for her grandchild and a friend. She treated me to dinner and breakfast on the Saturday and her boyfriend treated us both to breakfast on the Sunday. Tuesday started with a visit to the dentist for a broken tooth.....and from there I went to my oldest daughter's house, in Toronto. She took me to a deli for lunch and we had smoked meat sandwiches on rye....umumummm...heaven...we then went to the Textile Museum to see the display of antique quilts....ooohh they were soooo beautiful! And so very well preserved. She then made me a delicious dinner with a 'donut cake' complete with candles for dessert. Today (my birthday) was spent in a quilt shop at a class. It was a stashbusting class and I got the blocks put together, hopefully, this will get finished sooner rather than later....I came home to the sweetest, funniest rendition of 'Happy Birthday' on my answering machine sung by my grandson. I ordered in dinner and ate my favourite ice cream for dessert...Ben and Jerry's Tortoise Soup.....if you have never tried it, be warned, you can't eat just one scoop....I won't even tell you how much I had, but it was soooooo good. Tomorrow will be another visit to the dentist for another broken tooth (I'm thinking my teeth are aging faster than me)...I had a wonderful birthday stretched out over several days, spent with family, friends and fabric. What more could a girl ask for?

Birthday and a first finish for '10

My youngest son is 25 years old today! Now just how did that happen?? Holy smokes!

I've also finished my first quilt for the year, one of many I am hoping. I just love the Bunny Hill Designs by Anne Sutton. This one is Strawberry Fields and what a joy it was to work on. She has a new block of the month starting called 'Snowbound' and it's free. I love the 'Tisket Tasket' she designed last year and hope to get that finished this year as well. So many projects, so little time.

American Beauty BOM

Jo-Ann at 'Cock A Doodle' quilt shop was driving me crazy with her blog posts http://www.cockadoodlequilts.blogspot.com/ about this quilt. I don't know what it is about this quilt, but it caught my eye and I was waiting (not so patiently) for her newsletter to come out, so I could sign up. Well, the newsletter is out and I've signed up. I've also signed Lucie and I up for a mystery class in April. They are always so much fun and the dinners are to die for.....

What a coincidence

The 'daily puppy' is similar in colouring and size to my new puppy, Qtip. He is now 4 months old and a bundle of energy. He just go, go goes.....I'm sure there is some energizer bunny in him somewhere....At 6 weeks, he weighed just 5 pounds and the vet said he was underweight for his breed (mixed-I'm thinking black lab, husky, collie). At 10 weeks, he weighed 15 1/2 pounds, yes he is going to be a big boy. Don't be fooled by the innocence on his face, he is a puppy after all and into everything.

Happy New Year!

I spent the night at my grandson's house, where he had a sleep over with 3 of his friends from school. They were celebrating his 7th birthday. Where did the time go? Children at that age are such a bundle of energy. They finally settled down about 11:30, but were up again at 8:00, what a way to ring in the New Year, with 4 energetic, wired boys! It's been a long time since I was up that late and even longer since I rang in a New Year.
